Our office was commissioned to prepare the Final Structural Design and Detailed Structural Design (Construction Design) for the restoration, stabilization and structural strengthening of the Church of the Transfiguration of the Saviour, a monument of significant historical, architectural and cultural importance.

The scope of the project included the assessment of the existing structural system, the evaluation of its seismic performance and the design of the required strengthening interventions to ensure the long-term preservation and structural safety of the monument.

The structural study included:

Assessment of the existing structure, including a detailed survey of the load-bearing system and documentation of structural deterioration, such as cracking, settlements and material degradation.
Three-dimensional structural modelling and seismic analysis, using advanced numerical models to evaluate the building's response under gravity and seismic loading.
Design of structural rehabilitation and strengthening interventions, employing compatible and minimally invasive techniques, including grout injections, steel tie rods, local foundation strengthening and advanced strengthening systems where required, while respecting both the historic structural fabric and the church's interior religious decoration.

The Detailed Structural Design defines the construction methodology and technical solutions required for the execution of the project, ensuring that all structural interventions are fully compatible with the monument's historic character. The primary objective is to enhance the structural and seismic performance of the church while preserving its architectural, historical and artistic significance.
